Red Lamborghini imounded in Greenvale

State Highway Patrol officers were aghast when they detected a car travelling more than 70km/h above the speed limit in Greenvale this morning.

Police detected the red Llamborghini travelling at 156km/h in an 80 zone on Mickleham Road about 9.15am.

The driver, a 42 year old Greenvale man, had his car impounded for 30 days at a cost $917.

He will be charged on summons with speeding offences.

State Highway Patrol Inspector John Cormack was shocked by the speed detected.

"With all the attention in the community recently regarding the amount of lives lost this year it's really disappointing that we continue to see such reckless behaviour," he said.
