Red p seeing red in Rosebud

A man will be without his car and more than $1000 out of pocket after having his car impounded in Rosebud this morning.

Rosebud police detected the Ford Falcon, displaying red P plates, travelling at 100km/h in a 50 zone on Point Nepean Road about 6.15am.

The 22-year-old told police he was running late to work.

Things only got worse for the Somerville man when police checked his vehicle to find no tread on his front tires and he couldn't produce his licence.

His car was impounded at a cost of $1075 and is expected to be charged on summons with driving at a speed dangerous, exceeding the speed limit, failing to carry his licence and driving an unroadworthy vehicle.
