The Crisafulli Government is delivering on its commitment to resource police with a $44 million upgrade to the police station in Redcliffe, marking another major step in restoring safety where you live after a decade of Labor's neglect.
The Redcliffe station upgrade will deliver state of the art facilities for its more than 136 officers who have been forced to work in a cramped facility that is not fit for purpose.
The new facility will allow for the relocation of the Child Protection Investigation Unit and Crime Prevention teams to return to Redcliffe station, forced to relocate to Mango Hill due to restricted capacity at the existing site.
The project, located on the corner of Redcliffe Parade and Klingner Road, marks the first significant renovation to the site since 1983.
During a decade of decline, Labor created a Youth Crime Crisis and turned a blind eye to community safety, with inadequate funding forcing police to work in outdated facilities.
In its first ten months, the Crisafulli Government has delivered Adult Crime Adult Time, put more police on the frontline, and backed them with the resources they need.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie said the investment was about putting the community first.
"Labor left police to fight crime from crumbling buildings, but the Crisafulli Government is making sure our frontline gets the facilities they deserve," Minister Purdie said.
"The people of Redcliffe and Moreton Bay can be confident that this Government backs their police, and we will continue delivering the resources needed to restore safety across Queensland."
Member for Redcliffe Kerri-Anne Dooley said the investment was a game changer for the local community.
"Redcliffe families deserve to feel safe, and they deserve to know their police have the very best facilities to do the job," Ms Dooley said.
"After years of neglect under Labor, the Crisafulli Government is delivering real action, not empty promises.
"This project is about putting community safety first and ensuring our officers are properly supported."
Planning for the project is underway, with construction dates yet to be set.
