Reduced speed limit for Nagambie Rushworth Road - Campaspe Shire Council

Campaspe Shire Council has today reduced the speed limit on a 650 metre section of the Nagambie Rushworth Road due to the poor condition of the gravel road surface.

Infrastructure Services General Manager, Mr Richard Conway said a section of the road, from the edge of the sealed road through to Reedy Lake Road, has been reduced from 100kph to 40kph.

"The ongoing dry conditions have left the road's sub-surface very dry. Attempts to grade the section of road using water carts has not worked and the road surface has broken up," Mr Conway said.

"The road is now very soft, with layers of fine gravel and dust."

Reducing the speed limit continues to support road users and will protect permanent damage to the road's sub-surface.

"Staff will again visit the site next week and try an alternative method of grading to see if any improvement to the road surface can be made," Mr Conway said.

"The community will continue to be updated."

Speed restriction signs have been put in place and motorists must observe these restrictions.
