Refurbishment works for Oak Flats Library to commence

Oak Flats Library is about to receive an upgrade with works to improve facilities and accessibility commencing this week.

The upgrade will improve accessibility with a new courtyard entry complete with automatic doors and the provision of an accessible toilet. There will also be lounge seating and better equipped spaces for activities, programs and technology.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said that the new changes would provide a much needed refresh to enhance useability and overall customer experience.

"The new improvements for the popular and well-located library are highly anticipated by the local community," Cr Saliba said.

During the temporary closure of Oak Flats Library I encourage customers to continue to borrow at City, Albion Park or Warilla Library. You can also access a fantastic range of digital programs and resources suitable for all ages with Shellharbour City Libraries Library at Home," she said.

The upgrade is guided by the Libraries & Museum Strategy 2024, which has been informed by extensive community consultation and best practise.

The library will remain closed during the upgrade with plans to reopen upon expected completion towards the end of the year.
