Toowoomba Regional Council’s (TRC) newest Waste Management Facility is moving closer to opening with the capping of the existing Kleinton landfill completed.
Residents will be redirected through a new temporary facility entrance from Thursday, 22 October, 2020.
Operational throughout construction, the Kleinton Waste Management Facility is quickly transforming into the Region’s first Tier 2 facility and is anticipated to be opened for operations by the end of 2020.
TRC Water and Waste Committee portfolio leader Cr Nancy Sommerfield said Council was looking forward to the facility opening as it would provide great environmental benefits, including increased opportunities for recycling.
“The new Kleinton facility is a modern waste facility, providing a nicer experience plus greater opportunities for improved waste management, all the while maintaining our high service level where 98% of the Region’s population lives within a 20-minute drive of a waste management facility,” Cr Sommerfield said.
