Twenty-one community groups across the municipality will share in more than $72,000 through Council's 2025/26 Community Development Fund, supporting a range of local projects that deliver social, recreational and infrastructure benefits to their communities.
The annual fund provides grants of up to $5,000 to eligible not-for-profit groups and organisations, helping them deliver projects that improve facilities, build connections, and enhance community wellbeing.
Mayor Cr Stuart King said the program continues to make a positive impact right across the municipality.
"Every year, we see just how resourceful and community-minded our local groups are.
"These grants help turn great ideas into action - from sports facility upgrades to hall restorations, art installations, and improved comfort and safety for volunteers and users," Cr King said.
Cr King said this year's projects reflected the diverse and practical needs of local communities.
"From new thermal blankets at the Nyah Pool to upgraded lighting at the Swan Hill Motorplex, this funding will help improve the everyday experiences of our residents.
"We're supporting everything from archery targets, shuttlecock launchers and cricket net extensions, to murals in Woorinen South, rainwater tanks at Tyntynder South Hall, and kitchen upgrades at Nyah West Golf Club.
"It's also about creating safer, more comfortable spaces – with funding for air conditioning, storage upgrades, safety devices for volunteers, and resurfacing pathways in a community garden.
"Groups like M8's SMC, will upgrade their community BBQ trailer, and the Swan Hill Show Committee set to invest in new sound equipment, using this funding to both enhance their events and their fundraising efforts too. It's also fantastic to see investment in treasured community spaces like the Annuello Hall," Cr King said.
Cr King highlighted that each project, no matter the size, played a valuable role in strengthening local connections.
"These initiatives might seem small, but they all add up to something much bigger - they support the wellbeing, pride and vibrancy of our community," he added.
Cr King said Council was proud to continue supporting the grassroots work of community groups across the municipality.
"These groups are the heart of our towns and rural communities. Their efforts bring people together, promote healthy lifestyles, and preserve important spaces and traditions," he said.
