Release of Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy consultation report

Peter Gutwein,Premier

Tasmania's first ever comprehensive, long-term, whole of government Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy continues to progress with today's release of the "Your voice, your views, your say" consultation report.

The voices and pictures of children have been a huge part of this consultation, forming part of over 3,500 contributions received across the State.

This includes 816 postcards to the Premier from children and young people, who have told me of their hopes and dreams for Tasmania, and I am reading each and every one of them, as I said I would.

Their words, their stories, and their pictures have had a significant impact on me, and I have been moved by how deeply children and young people care about our State, our environment and our people.

We have also heard from parents, carers, advocates and service providers across all parts of Tasmania, and I thank everyone who has taken the time to give their thoughts on this important Strategy for our State's future.

I also thank our consultation partners, the Commissioner for Children and Young people, the Youth Network of Tasmania, the Mental Health Council of Tasmania and Playgroup Tasmania for the face-to-face conversations you led for us across the State.

Children and young people who have greater wellbeing are more likely to have better educational outcomes, and a better quality of life, and we will take all the feedback received on board and look forward to the Strategy's release later this year.
