Relief for ratepayers and not-for-profit lessees available now from Council

Armidale Regional Council is offering immediate relief to ratepayers experiencing genuine financial hardship due to the Coronavirus pandemic by allowing a three month payment deferral period and relief to not-for-profit organisations renting property from Council.

Mayor Simon Murray said it was imperative that we make available opportunities for ratepayers to defer rates whilst the economy is in hibernation and many people have been either stood down, businesses closed or experiencing a significant loss of income.

"The latest rates instalment will be mailed-out to ratepayers next week and we want to reassure members of the community that may be struggling financially that they have the option to defer the payment or enter into a payment plan," said Cr Murray.

"We will do everything we can to assist ratepayers and not-for-profit tenants of Council facilities to get through this difficult period together. Whether that is a deferral or establishing a payment plan."
