Renewal works for sporting centre

The Ballarat Squash and Racquetball Centre has undergone extensive renewal works.

The City of Ballarat works have included replacing the roof structure over the courts to minimise flooding risks.

There was also new roof cladding installed, improved insulation put in, façade improvements, ceiling lining replacement, new LED lights installed to improve court light levels and a new lighting control system installed to improve energy efficiency.

The PA system was also renewed, new external lighting installed, a new court exhaust system put in and new in-ground stormwater installed to improve site drainage.

Works were carried out by local building contractor Masterson Builders, with local designers and subcontractors also used.

Works were staged to minimise disruption to the local squash and racquetball season and to allow full access to the facility to the recently held Ballarat Open Squash Titles as part of the Custom Squash Victorian Grand Prix Squash Circuit.

Previous to this roof renewal project, works have also been completed to:

  • construct a disability compliant entry
  • improve internal stairs and handrails
  • improve emergency and exit lighting
