Renewed appeal following arson attack in Maroubra

Police investigating an arson attack on a cafe at Maroubra earlier this year are releasing CCTV of the incident as they renew an appeal for assistance, NSW Police say.

About 2am (17 May 2016), emergency services were called to a shop on Anzac Parade, near Maroubra Road, following reports of an explosion.

On arrival officers located the premises well alight. A number of people living above the store had to be evacuated.

Strike Force Sorbello, comprising of detectives from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command, are continuing to investigate the incident and would like to speak with anyone who may have information that can assist.

They would particularly like to identify two men seen in CCTV starting the fire and hope someone might recognise them from their clothing.

They are described as males wearing dark-coloured hooded jumpers and tracksuit pants.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
