Renewed appeal for missing man in Cairns, QLD

Police have renewed an appeal for public assistance to help locate a French Canadian tourist who has been reported missing in Queensland for more than five months, Queensland Police say.

Maxime Gagnon, 29, was last seen at a backpackers hostel on the Cairns Esplanade at the end of May.

Police and family in Canada hold concerns for his safety as his disappearance is out of character.

There is information that Mr Gagnon may have been in Brisbane towards the end of July at a local backpacker establishment.

It is possible he is looking for cash work and associating within the backpacking community

Mr Gagnon (pictured) is described as 180cm tall, Caucasian in appearance, of a proportionate build with blue eyes and brown hair.
