Replacement for stolen scooter at Para Hills

Police are investigating the callous theft of a mobility scooter from Para Hills, but are pleased the victim has been given a replacement scooter.

The victim, 78, is a Vietnam veteran who lost his legs in a military incident in the service of our country and is heavily reliant on a mobility scooter for his independence.

Between 3pm on Wednesday 12 August and 8am Thursday 13 August, his red Pide electric mobility scooter was stolen from his open carport at Para Hills.

Police visited the victim yesterday to follow up on the theft and, on finding out more details about his situation, contacted Jesse Bird Welfare Centre at Salisbury who arranged for an immediate replacement.

The brand new mobility scooter was delivered this morning and police were delighted to be invited to witness the significant delivery.

The investigation into the theft of the red Pide scooter is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
