Replica glock pistol seized; boy charged at Tamworth

A boy has been charged and will face court after police seized a replica glock pistol in Tamworth this morning.

About 9.15am today (Friday 19 June 2020), it was reported to police that a boy was waving around a pistol in a white Holden Commodore at a set of traffic lights at the intersection of Bridge Street and Goonoo Goonoo Road, Tamworth.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District's Bicycle Patrol Unit were patrolling the Tamworth CBD about 10am, when they stopped the Commodore on Peel Street.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 12-year-old boy, was approached and spoken to, when he handed over a replica glock pistol.

The boy was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with possess unauthorised pistol.

He was bail refused to appear at a children's court today (Friday 19 June 2020).
