Report on Munro Martin Parklands use extended

A report outlining the outcomes of a more liberal approach to the hire of Munro Martin Parklands (MMP) will be extended by six months.

In February, Council amended its Arts and Cultural Facilities General Policy to broaden the potential for third party venue hire of MMP.

The intent was to ascertain the appetite and consequences of a more liberal approach to third party hire of the facility, but with the explicit requirement that it be at no cost to Council.

Council further resolved that a report be tabled in September to summarise the impacts, nature and volume of third party hire in the six-month period.

However, due to the significant impact of COVID-19 on all venue activation and movement by members of the community, this six-month period has not provided sufficient information to enable an evaluation to be completed.

The six-month review will be extended to June 2021.

All applications will also continue to be tabled for consideration and approval of Council and use of MMP for events after 10pm also need to be endorsed by Council.

* This resolution from today's Community, Sport, Events and Cultural Services Committee meeting needs to be ratified at the next Ordinary Meeting of Council, to be held on 23 September 2020.
