New data released by the Productivity Commission has confirmed:
· Barely one-in-two Victorians are satisfied with policing services (52.3 per cent satisfied).
· Victoria has the highest rate of victims of armed robbery in the nation (30.1 per 100,000 people).
· Almost one-in-three (32.5 per cent) of Victorians do not feel safe walking alone in their neighbourhood at night, the highest rate of any state in the nation.
· Just 6 in 10 Victorian community corrections orders (60.8 per cent) are completed - the lowest level in the nation.
· More than one-in-three (36.8 per cent) of adults released from prison return to prison or to a new correctional sanction within two years.
Since Jacinta Allan became Premier in September 2023, the number full-time equivalent Victoria Police officers have fallen by 367, whilst criminal offences have risen by more than 25 per cent.
In May 2025, the Allan Labor Government cut $50 million from the Victoria Police budget as net debt continues to climb by $1.7 million an hour and is expected to reach a record $192.6 billion by 2028-29.
Shadow Minister for Police, Brad Battin, said: "This data confirms the depth of Labor's crime crisis and demonstrates how far behind other states Victoria is on community safety.
"Under Labor, Victorians are living in fear and with fewer police on the beat now than when Jacinta Allan became Premier, the situation will only continue to worsen.
"Only a Liberal and Nationals Government will end Labor's crime crisis by ending the revolving door bail system, ensuring consequences match community expectations and investing in crime prevention initiatives.
"Labor cannot manage money, cannot keep communities safe and Victorians are paying the price."
