Residential Permits Surge 13.6% Yearly

Tasmanian Government

The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics data has shown residential building approvals continue to rise in Tasmania.

225 residential building approvals went ahead in October 2025, a 13.6 per cent increase on October 2024.

Treasurer Eric Abetz said residential building approvals remain at a two-year high.

"This continued two-year high of residential building approvals is very welcome," the Treasurer said.

"These are positive signs, and shows what we're doing is working.

"We are tripling the First Home Owner Grant, stimulating more builds and getting more Tasmanians into their own home, and we've increased the cap of the highly successful MyHome Shared Equity Scheme to $800,000.

"Our economy is worth a record amount, unemployment remains at record lows and building approvals are on the up.

"This is a strong foundation to finish the year, and we are continuing to work together with Tasmanians to move our state forward."
