Residents recommend moving to the Orana region

One of the Orana region’s migrant families has described it as a ‘very liveable, peaceful region with all the facilities of any metropolitan area’.

Sunil Bhandari and his wife Pratiksha moved to Dubbo six years ago after visiting the city and falling in love with the area.

“We found Orana region perfect with all our requirements of job opportunities, best schools, and universities, shopping malls, best health care providers, parks, aquatic centres, good eateries and above all, a quality family life,” he said.

The couple, along with their beautiful daughter Prinsha, are one of two families to be featured on the cover of RDA Orana’s Welcome to the Orana Region guide which has been distributed across the 12 Local Government Areas to offer insights into the region including education, employment, housing, medical and a section on each location.

As a first for the region, Director of Regional Development Megan Dixon said the book will be a very handy tool to be used in conjunction with settlement services in the area.

Originally from Nepal, Mr Bhandari said moving to Dubbo had been a positive step for his family.

“I chose the Orana region to live to experience the country life of Australia and to have better opportunities for myself and to have more family time and where I can afford more to fulfill my wish and balance income too.

“I love the area because Dubbo, as the main city of Orana, has most of the things that we need for daily living and the place is not crowded and has lots of opportunities too.”

When he’s not working as a restaurant manager, Mr Bhandari loves escaping to Dubbo’s natural areas.

“I finished my Bachelor's degree from Sydney in accounting and moved to the Orana region for further opportunities,” he said.

“We have lots of things to do when we have free time like visiting Taronga Western Plains Zoo, there are lots of parks for our kids and natural beauty places that we can visit in a short drive too. My favourite thing to do in the Orana region is spending my time off with my daughter doing cycling around the zoo, visiting Dubbo Regional Botanic Garden, and having evening walk arounds lots of beautiful parks and beautiful walking paths around the region.”

“I recommend this region to others to have a better lifestyle within your budget and to have more family time where you can balance your work life and family as well as experiencing country life in Australia where you can fulfill all your wishes without compromising anything. And for sure it has lots of opportunities for jobs too.”
