Responsible Use Of Artificial Intelligence

MDBA

Statement attributable to Andrew McConville - MDBA Chief Executive:

We use some AI‑supported tools in our work, just like many organisations do, but always in line with the Australian Government's rules for the responsible use of AI.

For the Basin Plan Review, AI is only used to help with the basics like tagging submissions so they go to the right experts or creating short summaries so our teams can quickly see the themes people are raising.

Importantly, it doesn't replace people. The consultation is human led. Every submission is still read and considered by a real person, and AI isn't used to make decisions. It's simply a tool that helps us work through a large volume of feedback more efficiently, while making sure no voices or perspectives are missed.
