Restaurant fire in Bankstown

Police are on the scene of a restaurant fire in Sydney’s south-west.

About 3.20am today police and Fire & Rescue were called to the fire in a restaurant on the ground floor of a building on West Terrace, Bankstown.

The fire has been brought under control. There are no reports of injuries, however one person has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

About 100 surrounding residents have been evacuated. Numerous police and fire brigade vehicles remain on the scene.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious and officers from Bankstown Local Area Command will conduct inquiries into the inciden.

West Terrace is currently closed, NSW Police say.
