The City of Swan undertook public consultation for the Midland Local Area Plan (LAP) between February 22 and April 3, 2020. The City received 405 comments with over 356 unique users accessing the consultation.
The Midland LAP includes the suburbs of Midland, Viveash, Middle Swan, Woodbridge, Midvale, Bellevue and Koongamia.
In their feedback, many community members listed potential opportunities such as streetscape improvements, more green spaces, heritage protection, local events and tourism.
Some of the key concerns raised by participants related to traffic safety, congestion and antisocial behaviour in the Midland Town Centre.
The community feedback from the first phase of consultation is now being collated. The City will develop strategies and actions to address the feedback as part of the draft Midland LAP.
The draft LAP is due to be advertised in late 2020, with the final plan anticipated to go to Council early next year.
