Retail trade continues to shine

Tasmania’s record-breaking run of strong retail trade has continued, with data released by the ABS today confirming 46 consecutive months of growth.

Today’s data also confirms that Tasmania has had the fastest rate of retail trade growth in the nation for the fifth month in a row.

These great results don’t happen by accident- they are the result of the Hodgman Government’s strong economic management and a long term Plan that is creating jobs and increasing confidence across the state.

The total value of retail trade is now at a record $545.7 million in trend terms for the month of August, an increase of 0.5 per cent over the previous month.

Over the year to August 2018, Tasmania’s retail trade has also grown by 5.3 per cent, the second-fastest annual growth rate in the nation.

Tasmania is now a better place to live than ever before and these figures are more confirmation that our long term plan is improving the lives of every Tasmanian.
