Return Of King: Pet Rescue Tale - Wollongong

Some legends are small and fuzzy!

The victim of a suspected car accident, King the cat's tale is one that's making Wollongong City Council's Animal Care & Impounding Service team members' hearts sing.

After being found by community member Amanda injured in Bellambi, he was brought into Council's care as a lost and injured cat.

Unfortunately, things were looking grim for the little lad. Despite a successful leg amputation surgery, he was experiencing severe bowel issues. He remained in foster care while the vet team ran a series of tests to identify the issue.

While it was confirmed that his toilet troubles were unrelated to his amputated leg, results were largely inconclusive. That's when the veterinary team caring for King tried something special; a compounded medication created specifically for him. It was a rousing success!

Now he is back in action and better than ever, and like every good love story there's a happy twist. He has been adopted and found his forever home with his rescuer, Amanda!

"He's running amok and ruling the house and eating us out of house and home,'' Amanda said.

"He's super affectionate and loves the outdoor area I have built for him. He's going great with his toileting."

"We are loving having him as a part of our family 😊"
