Revitalising Darwin CBD and Creating Jobs: Darwin Street Art Festival starts today

Local and national artists are set to reveal their murals over the next ten days as part of the 2018 Darwin Street Art Festival.

The expanded 2018 Street Art Festival is part of the Territory Labor Governments plan to transform and revitalise the Darwin CBD, to create jobs, retail opportunities and increase visitation; made possible by a boosted investment in the event as part of the record $103 million Turbocharging Tourism stimulus.

This years festival theme is Territory Stories and designs will reflect the uniqueness of the Territory through our people, landscape, flora and fauna.

The festival represents a unified approach between artists, retail/private sector and government to create a sense of vibrancy and purpose within the Darwin CBD that in turn creates local engagement, retail opportunities and visitation

This year builds on the success of the inaugural event where eight walls were completed. This year, up to 16 walls will be painted during the Festival period, with a focus on Austin and West Lanes.
