Police will address the media as an investigation continues after a man sustained a gunshot wound at Wardell – about 10km south of Ballina – earlier this morning.
About 4.30am today (Tuesday 19 August 2025), emergency services were called to a property on Pimlico Road, Wardell, following reports a man had been injured.
Officers from Richmond Police District, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, attended and found a 22-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound.
He was treated at the scene before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital where he is being treated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening.
A crime scene has been established, and an investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
