A Richmond man was rendered speechless after receiving a call from us informing him of his $1.6 million TattsLotto division one win, admitting the shock of the win made his fingertips go numb.
So far in 2025, there have been 14 major lottery wins in Tasmania that have collectively taken home more than $10.85 million in prize money.
The Apple Isle resident held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4599, drawn Saturday 16 August 2025. He looks forward to $1,631,770.49 shortly after his birthday.
"One point six million dollars?! This doesn't feel real!" he exclaimed when we called earlier this morning.
"I have no feelings in my fingertips now!
"I noticed I had received a few missed calls this morning, but I ignored it because I don't know anyone from Brisbane. Then I noticed I had a voicemail, and it informed me to call into The Lott.
"I immediately said, 'No! No! It can't be!'. I only ever win small amounts.
"Six might be my new favourite number - it was game six that made me win division one!
"I'm stunned. One point six million dollars is enough for me!
"I'm definitely not going to rush into this."
When asked how he planned to enjoy his newly-crowned millionaire status, the Tasmanian shared the division one win would shake up the rest of his year.
"This changes a few plans for work. I am getting to retirement age, and this means I might be able to retire earlier," he said.
"My birthday is next week, and I'm sure I'll use this as an excuse to celebrate!
"I'm not going to rush though. I'll put the prize into a bank account and have a long think.
"Thank you so much. I now have to go turn my mind on for work!"
His winning 12-game entry was purchased on The Lott website - the official home of Australia's lotteries.
