Rider Charged: Knives, Drugs Seized in Fairfield West

A man will face court over a pursuit in Sydney's south-west today.

About 3am (Sunday 1 June 2025), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting stationary speed enforcement on Cumberland Highway, Fairfield West, when they attempted to stop a motorcycle allegedly being ridden dangerously.

When the rider allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, the pursuit was terminated on Baragoola Street, Fairfield West, where the rider – a 35-year-old man – was arrested after the motorcycle crashed into a hedge.

Checks revealed the motorcycle was stolen from Edmondson Park area on Wednesday 28 May 2025.

Police also seized methylamphetamine, GHB, and two knives.

He was subjected to a roadside drug test, returned with an alleged positive reading to methylamphetamine.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station where an oral fluid sample was obtained and sent for further analysis.

He was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, exceed speed more than 45km/h, not stop vehicle when directed to do so, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, use Class A vehicle number plate not correctly fixed, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (two counts), custody of knife in public place (two counts), and possess prohibited drug.

He was subsequently charged with two outstanding warrants on drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (two counts) and not give particulars to other driver.

He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court tomorrow (Monday 2 June 2025).
