Rider on stolen motorbike arrested, SA

A man has been arrested after a brief pursuit on a stolen motorbike at Gepps Cross today, according to SA Police.

Just before 4.30pm (2 February) a police motorcycle officer spotted a black Honda motorbike traveling east on Grand Junction Road.

The officer activated his emergency lights in an attempt to stop the motorbike however the rider sped off towards Hampstead Road and was not pursued further.

As the rider approached the Hampstead Road intersection, he reportedly lost control of the bike on loose gravel and fell off. The rider abandoned the motorbike and ran off along Hampstead Road where he was arrested.

Subsequent checks on the motorbike revealed that it had incorrect number plates attached to it and had been stolen from Grange on the 22 January.

A 38-year-old man from Port Adelaide was charged with engage in a police pursuit, illegal use, driving unlicenced, unlawful possession, driving with unassigned plates and breach of bail. His bail has been refused and is expected to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow.
