Rider seriously injured in crash - Murray River

A man has been seriously injured in a crash in the state's Murray River region yesterday.

About 8.30pm (Wednesday 24 November 2021), police have been told a man left a gathering with friends on a private property on Lower Thule Road, Thule – about 70km north-west of Moama – on a dirt bike.

Shortly after, the man rode the motorcycle through a paddock, before losing control after failing to negotiate an embankment.

The impact threw the rider off the dirt bike and knocked him unconscious.

A witness rendered first aid and contacted emergency services.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the rider – a 21-year-old man – for serious head injuries before he was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital Melbourne in a critical condition, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
