Right place right time for Dandenong police

Dandenong Frontline Tactical Unit officers were in the right place at the right time on Wednesday as they were on their way to a job in Narre Warren.

It was about 4pm when First Constable Callum Nathan and First Constable Luke Bull were stopped in the middle of Plunkett Road by a woman holding her baby.

The woman was visibly upset and told them her 18-month-old was choking and had stopped breathing.

First Constable Nathan took the baby and gave it multiple back taps while First Constable Bull called an ambulance.

The baby spat out the obstruction, a piece of cucumber that was lodged in her airway, and began breathing normally.

The outcome was one of relief for all involved especially the baby's mum.
