Riverfire 2016, important information.

Riverfire returns this Saturday and police are reminding people to plan their travel as road and bridge closures come into effect, Queensland Police say.

Police are also urging the public to drink responsibly and only within designated areas.

Please be aware the Southbank Parklands will be fenced off and alcohol consumption is not permitted within the Parklands.

Police also remind residents and visitors not to leave any bags unattended in any public space. Random bag checks will be conducted in the South Bank area throughout the day and police are asking the public to be patient.

BRIDGE CLOSURES

Captain Cook Bridge:  – open all times

Goodwill Bridge:  5pm – 8pm
Closed, no access.

Story Bridge: 6.30pm – 8pm
Closed to all traffic (including pedestrians).
Eastern footpath closed from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Western (city side) footpath closed from 9pm Thursday 22 September to 8.30pm Saturday 24 September.

Victoria Bridge: 4pm – 11pm
Traffic lanes closed at 4pm and reopened for pedestrians from 5pm – 9.30pm.
Western footpath (Museum side) closed to pedestrians from 5.30pm – 11pm.
Eastern footpath (South Bank side) remains open at all times.

VB Monument Closed 10am – 10pm

Busway remains operational at all times.

Go Between and Kurilpa Bridges: open all times.

The Go Between Bridge, Clem 7, Legacy Way and Airportlink Tunnel toll operate as normal.

RIVER CLOSURES

  • Two dedicated spectator mooring zones will be established in the Town Reach of the Brisbane River for 100 private recreational vessels who obtained Entry Permit Flags on Wed 17 Aug.   Only those vessels with the Entry Permit Flags are permitted to anchor in these mooring zones.
  • Water police will be on patrol

Brisbane River: 5pm – 8.45pm
Closed to all traffic between Mowbray Park, East Brisbane and Go Between Bridge (enforcement agency vessels accepted).

CityCats services will cease operations from 6.45pm – 7.45pm.

The Holman Street, Eagle Street and Thornton Street and CityHopper services will cease operations from 6.45pm – 8.15pm.

The QUT CityCat terminal will close at 4pm and will remain closed until resumption of normal services on Sun 25 Sept.

Due to the popularity of the CityCat, CityHopper and cross river CityFerry services it is recommended patrons travel early to avoid delays and disappointment.

Adelaide Street: 4pm – 11pm
Closed between George Street and North Quay to south bound traffic (Translink buses accepted).

George Street: 7.30pm – 8.30pm
Closed to all traffic between Elizabeth Street and Burnett Lane.

North Quay: 4pm – 11pm
Closed between Ann and Queen Streets with general traffic diverted into Turbot Street or onto the Riverside Expressway at Ann Street (Mecure Hotel guests accepted).   North Quay bus services which usually access Elizabeth Street will be diverted via Adelaide, Edward and Elizabeth Streets from 4pm – 8.30pm. Call Translink on 13 12 30 for temporary bus stop locations.

Queens Wharf Road: 4pm – 11pm
Closed between William Street and the turnaround behind the Commissariat Stores.

William Street: 4pm – 11pm
Closed to all traffic between Queen and Elizabeth Streets (Translink buses accepted 8:30pm – 11pm).

Fortitude Valley

Story Bridge:  6.30pm – 8pm
Closed no access from Ann, Boundary, Brunswick, Harrison, Ivory, Martin or Gipps Streets.

Bowen Terrace: 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Closed between the Story Bridge and Bowen Street to improve safety at the popular Wilson’s Lookout.

Local streets linking Brunswick Street to Bowen Terrace: 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Closed with access open to local residents only.

Kangaroo Point

Ellis Street: 4pm – 9.30pm
Remains open. Right turn only from Ellis into Leopard Street.

Local streets linking River Terrace to Main Street: 4pm – 9.30pm
Closed with access open to local residents only.

Mark Lane: 4pm – 9.30pm
Left turn only from Mark Lane into Leopard Street.

Pedestrian stairs at Kangaroo Point Cliffs Lookout: 7pm – 7.30pm
Pedestrian stairs adjacent to the Lookout and Cliffs Café linking Lower River Terrace/Service Road and River Terrace are closed.

River Terrace and Leopard Street: 4pm – 9.30pm
River Terrace at Main Street and Leopard Street at Vulture Street closed.

No parking any time and tow away enforced on both sides.

RIVERWALK

The New Farm Riverwalk closes from 6.30pm – 8pm between Boundary Street and Merthyr Road.
