This year's conference will provide the opportunity to reflect on 13 years of Basin Plan implementation, assess what's working, identify areas for improvement, and explore meaningful opportunities for change ahead of the 2026 Basin Plan Review.
MDBA Chief Executive Andrew McConville said that last week's release of the Basin Plan Evaluation and the Sustainable Rivers Audit was a major milestone on the road to the 2026 Review.
"These evidence-rich assessments are critical inputs for the Review Discussion Paper, currently scheduled for release in early 2026," Mr McConville said.
"We're unpacking the Evaluation and the Sustainable Rivers Audit in detail at River Reflections so we can work with governments, First Nations, communities and industry to shape the Discussion Paper and the Review as we move forward.
"The Review is not about starting over, it's about building on what we've got, making it better and getting the best outcomes we can. It's our opportunity to work smarter and with communities, using the best available evidence to ensure the Basin Plan can deliver for the environment, communities and industries into the future."
Members of the public are encouraged to join the free River Reflections livestream and be part of the discussion.
