Road closure - repair of Lithgow Library façade and awning

Lithgow Council

Lithgow City Council has received funding from the NSW Government's Resources for Regions Program to allow the replacement of the Lithgow Library's façade and awning.

Council determined that the building's facade and awning had developed structural issues and in the interest of safety, these components were removed from the building. Thanks to funding from the Resources for Regions, Council is now able to replace these sections of the building.

The design of the updated building façade will enhance the presentation of Lithgow's Main Street. These works, in conjunction with the recently announced Main Street footpath, seating and landscape upgrades, are set to transform the appearance of this busy precinct, and provide the community with assets they can be proud of.

Council has engaged an experienced local contractor to undertake the construction works.

Residents are to note however, that the adjoining laneway, Bank Lane, will be closed to traffic between 27th January and the 8th April 2022. The closure will affect a small portion of Bank Lane, between the Main Street and Burns Lane intersections.
