Road closures for the 2018 Gold Coast Show at Southport, QLD

Gold Coast police would like to remind motorists of upcoming road closures due to the 2018 Gold Coast Show, Queensland Police say.

The event will be held over three days, from Friday August 31 to Sunday September 2, with more than 50,000 visitors expected to attend this year’s event.

Police have been working with event organisers and stakeholders to ensure the show is conducted safely and with minimum disruption to traffic.

Motorists are advised that travelling anywhere near the Broadwater Parklands at Southport during this event may results in delays due to the diversions that will be in place.

Major Events Group Inspector Matt Rosevear said: "Police will be present at, and around, the Show site to ensure public safety and minimal disruption to local residents and businesses throughout the event".

Police would also like to remind residents and pet owners that the Gold Coast Show will have a fireworks display at 8.00pm on Friday August 31 and Saturday September 1, as well as 7.00pm on Sunday September 2.

Please expect delays and traffic congestion at the following Southport roads:

• Speed Reduction to 40km/hr along the Gold Coast Highway between Nind Street and Sundale Bridge from 8.00am, Friday August 31 to 10.00pm, Sunday September 2
• Closure of parking bays along the Gold Coast Highway between Nerang Street and Ada Bell Way from 10.00pm, Thursday August 30 to 11.00pm, Sunday September 2.
• Congestion on Queens Street, outside Owen Park, due to Gold Coast Show Equestrian events.
