The Allan Labor Government is keeping Victorians moving smoothly in our city and regions, with the $964 million 2024/25 road maintenance program wrapping up this month.
Hundreds of kilometres of road across the state have been repaired, resurfaced or rebuilt to keep Victorians moving delivering more reliable journeys for local drivers, tourists, and freight operators.
Crews have inspected roads and responded to calls from local communities - 24 hours a day, seven days a week, undertaking repairs on more than 211,000 potholes and mowing and slashing more than 50,000 kilometres of grass.
Almost 41,000 signs have been repaired or replaced, and crews have cleaned over 20,727 square metres of graffiti from the road network.
Workers have inspected more than 8,000 structures on the road network, including bridges and culverts to ensure they continue to be operational and more than 3,000 safety barriers have been repaired on major highways.
Approximately 70 per cent of this program was delivered on roads and roadsides across regional Victoria - with major works delivered along the Great Alpine Road, the Mallee Highway, the Monaro Highway, the Surf Coast Highway and the Western Highway.
The work doesn't stop there - later this year, crews will be back on the road delivering the Victorian Budget 2025/26 Better Roads Blitz, a record $976 million investment to repair and maintain our roads.
As part of these upcoming works, crews will focus on delivering long-term solutions to repair Victorian roads - with rehabilitation and resurfacing works prioritised to protect the longevity of our road network for years to come.
As stated by Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne
"Crews have worked tirelessly to deliver long-term repairs on our road network, completely rebuilding and repairing hundreds of kilometres of roads to ensure smooth journeys for all Victorians."
"We delivered record roads funding last year and this Budget delivered even more - our massive $976 million Better Roads Blitz will fix potholes and upgrade road surfaces right across Victoria."
"Whether you're driving to work, carrying goods along our key transport routes, or travelling through on your way to one of our tourist destinations, you'll be experiencing the benefits of this road maintenance blitz."
