Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) will soon undertake a program of road resurfacing works across several suburbs in Toowoomba as part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining safe and reliable local roads.
The works will be carried out by RPQ Spray Seal on behalf of Council, with resurfacing scheduled between 6am and 6pm on nominated dates, weather permitting.
TRC Construction and Maintenance portfolio spokesperson Councillor Carol Taylor said the works were an important investment in extending the life of local roads.
"These resurfacing works are a key part of Council's proactive maintenance program and help ensure our roads remain safe, durable and fit for purpose for residents, businesses and visitors," Cr Taylor said.
"We appreciate that this type of work can cause some short-term inconvenience, and we thank the community for their patience while these essential upgrades are carried out."
Affected streets in East Toowoomba, South Toowoomba and Harristown will be notified by letter in advance of the works with approximate dates. Wet or adverse weather conditions may extend or delay the estimated work duration.
Cr Taylor said Council and the contractor would work closely with the community to minimise disruption.
"To allow the works to be completed safely and efficiently, residents and businesses are asked not to park vehicles within the road reserve during scheduled works. Vehicles should be parked as far away from the road as possible to reduce the risk of spray drift.
"Every effort will be made to maintain property access during the works, however, partial road closures and limited access may occur for short periods. Loose stone can also be expected following resurfacing until the new surface has had sufficient time to cure.
"We encourage residents to plan ahead during the scheduled dates and follow any on-site traffic directions," she said
Council thanks residents and businesses for their cooperation in anticipation of these upcoming works.
