Council crews are busy this morning spreading salt on roads and footpaths around the city, after last night's sub-zero temperatures turned much of the slush into slippery black ice.
While crews are working as fast as they can, drivers should expect the roads to be slippery, so slow down, allow plenty of time to get to work and drive to the conditions.
Pedestrians, in particular, should be super careful as they walk around the city today, as ice has formed on footpaths as well as roads.
Roads:
There are two roads closed towards Mt Canobolas today (Friday) while crews clear fallen trees.
  • Cargo Road has re-opened for traffic.
  • Pinnacle Rd is closed at Shiralee Rd
  • Canobolas Rd is closed at Pheasamt Lane
Be careful with 'black ice' on roads and footpaths. Please drive to the conditions.
Parks:
Cook Park and the Cemetery are open after they were closed yesterday because snow laden branches were posing a safety issue.
The Adventure playground remains closed today (Friday) while crews clean up the area and complete minor repairs. It's expected it will re-open tomorrow.
The Botanic Gardens remains closed today while staff remove fallen branches, assess the damage to trees and the risk of more branches falling.
