ROAM Geelong: New Arts Event Transforms City in October

Victoria's most ambitious new cultural event will arrive in Geelong this Spring, transforming the city's creative heart for one unforgettable day and night.

On Saturday 11 October, ROAM Geelong will bring hundreds of artists to the streets from 4pm to 10pm, creating a multi-sensory journey through art, performance, music and storytelling.

Presented by the City of Greater Geelong and supported by Visit Victoria's Regional Events Fund , this inaugural event showcases acclaimed artists alongside emerging talent, with more than 60 percent of participants from Greater Geelong.

The diverse program brings together internationally acclaimed performances and cutting-edge installations across Geelong's unique arts and cultural precinct.

Johnstone Park will come alive with Tomorrow Blooms – a fusion of art, nature and technology by Superficial Studio's Andrew Kupresanin and Belinda Chen creating an immersive digital botanical experience. Music will span diverse sounds in the historic rotunda, while families can also discover hands-on creative activities throughout the precinct. The spectacular centrepiece will be a giant falcon that will roam through the park and surrounding streets, accompanied by light shows and soundscapes as day transitions to night.

Geelong's Platform Arts will transform the streets into a living dance floor with After Walter Hopps Remix, and Dr Anindita Banerjee's Arranged Marriage will light up Little Malop Street with a dazzling procession of Bollywood beats, costumes and satire throughout the evening.

Comedian and design advocate Tim Ross will explore Australia's home ownership obsession in The Australian Dream? at Geelong Library & Heritage Centre, while the renowned Bangarra Dance Theatre, a company of professional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performers, will present The Light Inside at Geelong Arts Centre – their first cross-cultural collaboration uniting Maori and First Nations stories of resilience and connection.

Across the road Geelong Gallery presents Australia's most esteemed portrait award, showcasing the 2025 Archibald Prize finalists, and Dr Paola Balla will lead local First Nations artists in creating Gathering Place, a powerful bush-dyed fabric installation celebrating culture and community connection at the Gordon Gallery.
