Robbery & Serious Crime Squad detectives investigating the alleged kidnapping and murder of 85-year-old Chris Baghsarian have charged two people.
Just after 5am on Friday 13 February 2026, officers from Ryde Police Area Command received a report that an 85-year-old man had been kidnapped from his home in North Ryde.
Local police attended before detectives attached to State Crime Command's Robbery & Serious Crime Squad began a coordinated response to recover the man under Strike Force Chabot.
Early inquiries established that Chris Baghsarian was not the intended target of the kidnapping and had been taken in a case of mistaken identity.
Mr Baghsarian's remains were located about 8am on Tuesday 24 February 2026 near a golf club in Pitt Town.
Two people have previously been charged and remain before the courts.
Following extensive inquiries, about 6.30am today (Wednesday 25 March 2026), strike force detectives – with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit – executed a search warrant in Seven Hills.
At the address, police arrested a man and woman – both aged 23.
During a search of the property, police located and seized a firearm, firearm parts, ammunition, four mobile phones including a DECCD, and a substantial amount of prohibited drugs.
The man was taken to Riverstone Police Station, where he was charged with murder, take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, possess unauthorised firearm, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, acquire firearm part without authority to do so, three counts of supply prohibited drug >indictable &
He was refused bail to appear in Blacktown Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 26 March 2026).
Police will allege in the court the man was one of the principal offenders involved in facilitating the kidnapping, detention and disposal of Mr Baghsarian.
The woman was taken to Blacktown Police Station, where she was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic).
She was refused bail to appear in Blacktown Local Court today.
