Robbery with violence - Ashmore

Police are appealing for public assistance to help identify a woman who may be able to assist with an on-going investigation into an alleged robbery with violence at an Ashmore shopping centre earlier this month.

It will be alleged that at around 10.40pm on July 5 a 20-year-old man was sitting in his car at the rear of an Ashmore Road shopping centre when an unknown woman approached the vehicle and started a conversation with him.

It will be further alleged the woman hopped into the vehicle and continued talking to the 20 year-old man at which point another man approached the vehicle and started threatening him. The woman then started punching the man.

The man got out of his vehicle and the woman jumped into the driver's seat and drove off.

The 20-year-old man sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

The woman is described as Caucasian, 166 cm tall, proportionate build, dark hair possibly dark purple and was wearing a black top possibly a crop top, brown coloured shorts, black jacket, white socks and black shoes.

Police subsequently arrested a 47-year-old Southport man and charged him with robbery with violence and in company, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possession of a restricted drug.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.
