Robbery with violence charge at Maryborough, QLD

Police have charged a man following investigations into an incident at a service station on the Bruce Highway at Maryborough yesterday morning, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged around 11.20am, a 55-year-old man was assaulted in the car park of the premises while demands were made for his money.

It will further be alleged a man entered the 55-year-old’s car before members of the public came to the man’s aid and chased him from the vehicle.

The man ran and then allegedly entered a second vehicle however the car owner used their keys to lock him inside until police arrived.

A 22-year-old Torquay man has been charged with one count of robbery with violence and two counts of enter premises with intent.

He will appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court today.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have dashcam footage of a dirty-grey Holden Captiva driving dangerously between Gympie and Maryborough this morning to please make contact.
