Robbery with violence in Bowen Hills, QLD

Two men have been charged following an alleged assault and robbery that occurred in Bowen Hills this morning, Queensland Police say.

Officers were called to Hurworth Street shortly before 8am after reports that a man was assaulted as he was walking on the street.

The man was allegedly punched in the face a number of times before two men stole his wallet and fled the scene on foot.

Police arrived and gave chase by foot and located two men allegedly getting into a car that was stopped at traffic lights on Abbotsford Road.

Officers have managed to arrest the two offenders and it will be further alleged that they were trying to drive off in the vehicle with the female driver still inside.

Both men were taken into custody without further incident.

The man who was assaulted suffered injuries to his face and was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital and the woman from the car was treated for shock.

A 30-year-old Acacia Ridge man has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, robbery and stealing.

A 20-year-old Redcliffe man has been charged with one count to attempted robbery and receiving tainted property.

Both men are due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 28.
