Robbery with violence in Port Douglas, QLD

Police are investigating the robbery of a woman in Port Douglas last night, Queensland Police say.

Just after 10pm a 19-year-old woman, a member of staff, was leaving a closed liquor outlet on Port Douglas Road when she was confronted by a man who made demands for cash.

Before the woman had a chance to comply she was tackled to the ground by the man who then robbed her of a bag containing a sum of cash.

The man left in an unknown direction and the woman was not injured as a result of the incident.

The man was described as Caucasian, aged in his forties with short blonde hair.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who witnessed anything suspicious or anyone who has any information that may assist their enquiries to contact Crime Stoppers.
