Rocherlea man charged with firearms offences, TAS

A 28 year-old Rocherlea man will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court today charged with aggravated assault and firearms offences following an incident in Mayfield last night, Tasmania Police say.

Police were called to attend an address in Mayfield shortly after 8.30pm on Monday 27th February 2017 after reports of gun shots being fired in the area.

The man was subsequently arrested by members from Launceston uniform and Northern CIB and charged with aggravated assault, breach of bail, possess a firearm when not the holder of a firearms licence, possess a loaded firearm in public and recklessly discharging a firearm.

He was detained to appear in court later today (28/2).
