Rock Fisherman Swept Into Sea, Dies at Tathra

A rock fisherman had died after being swept into sea on the state's Far South Coast this morning.

About 8.15am (Saturday 19 April 2025), emergency services were called to Kianinny Bay near Kangarutha Walking Track, Tathra, following reports a rock fisherman was in the water.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended and with assistance from Marine Rescue, NSW Ambulance paramedics, Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Surf Live Saving NSW and Marine Area Command, commenced an operation to locate the man.

About 10.40am today, a body was located in water nearby.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the man.

Police have commenced an investigation into the incident and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
