Rockhampton Region residents are advised that multiple locations across the city will be used by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) for a major training exercise starting today and continuing through to early August.
The activity forms part of Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025, with Rockhampton serving as a key logistical hub. The Rockhampton exercise will involve personnel from the 7th Combat Brigade, based in Brisbane, and the 17th Brigade from Sydney.
During the exercise, residents will notice increased defence activity in Rockhampton, including the movement of Army trucks, smaller military vehicles, and soldiers throughout the city. Larger armoured vehicles will travel along the Bruce Highway toward the Shoalwater Bay Training Area.
While some soldiers may carry weapons and training-related gunfire might be heard, all live firing is strictly confined to the Shoalwater Bay Training Area only.
