Rocky strikes again in Mickleham

Police have arrested a man after he allegedly crashed a stolen car and fled the scene in Mickleham this morning.

Emergency services were called to the Hume Freeway, near Donnybrook Road, following reports a car had crashed into a barrier about 3am

The driver of the car fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival.

Checks made on the Holden Captiva soon revealed it to be an outstanding stolen vehicle.

Rocky the police dog was soon on scene and wasted no time in establishing a track on the driver.

Police arrested the alleged driver, a 47-year-old Wallan man, after Rocky located him hiding in a nearby paddock.

He remains in custody and is assisting police with their enquiries.
