Roestbakken, Grant and Riley lend their voices as Australian Red Cross Youth Ambassadors and Digital Advocates

Westfield Matildas defender Karly Roestbakken and Westfield Young Matildas Charlotte Grant and Indiah-Page Riley are supporting the Australian Red Cross’ work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The trio have joined up as Youth Ambassadors to use their platforms and lend their voices as Digital Advocates as part of Football Federation Australia’s partnership with the Australian Red Cross.

Roestbakken, Grant and Riley are part of the 1.96 million football participants across the country and during this challenging time for the Australian community, they looked for a way to contribute to the response.

As Digital Advocates the trio will work with other Australian Red Cross ambassadors to actively share information, promote connection and spark conversations, particularly in the under 30 age group.

For Brisbane Roar forward Indiah-Page Riley, it was a sense of civic duty that informed her decision to become a Youth Ambassador and Digital Advocate.

“Once I heard about the Red Cross Youth Ambassadors it was a really easy and exciting decision to join,” said Riley.

I want to assist in any way, and I think being an ambassador will allow me to use my voice to spread awareness of COVID-19 information.”

Being a voice among her peers also motivated Adelaide United defender Charlotte Grant.

“I have joined as a Youth Ambassador in hope to encourage my peers to stay home and help stop the spread of this virus so everyone can get back to doing what they love as quickly as possible,” she said.

“I am really excited to partner with the Australian Red Cross to help with my voice and spread awareness throughout this difficult time that, not only as a nation but as a world, we are experiencing,” said Westfield Matildas defender Roestbakken.

“I want to be able to use my platform to join the work of our united football community to help stop and beat this virus.”
