Expressions of interest (EOI) are being sought to increase and diversify the range of business on Rottnest Island to enhance the experience for visitors for the next summer season.
The Rottnest Island Authority is inviting experienced operators to bring innovative and exciting recreational offerings to complement existing businesses on Western Australia's iconic holiday and tourist destination.
The EOI includes specific calls for Aboriginal cultural tourism offerings, recreational leisure activities and experiences, and 'pop-up' food and beverage businesses during the summer of 2022/23.
The island's heritage-listed Salt Store located in the heart of the main settlement is also available for lease for a retail business.
Rottnest Island has been undergoing a series of major upgrades, including a $62 million commitment from the upcoming 2022-23 State Budget to enhance the island's infrastructure and support expanded growth.
The significant investment is in addition to the McGowan Government's previous allocation of $31 million towards upgrades to Rottnest's ageing water supply and road network.
The major funding boost will see renewables power 75 per cent of the island's energy needs.
Rottnest Island is a Class A nature reserve with strong eco-credentials that align with this increase in renewable energy production.

"This call for new businesses on Wadjemup comes at a great time with the reopening of borders and the return of interstate and international travel.
"Visitors are looking for cultural experiences that acknowledge the significance of the island.
"Expanding the range of recreational, tourism and retail offerings this summer will help the island to remain an exciting and interesting destination for visitors.
"The historic Salt Store represents a unique opportunity for a retailer to add a special offering to the island."
