Roundabout Work Moving Along Nicely

MidCoast Council

Good progress has been made on Wingham's Isabella and Primrose Street roundabout despite crews encountering several obstacles during the project.

The inclement weather has caused some issues with continuation of work and multiple large logs have been found under the previous road, along with unexpected old stormwater pipes, and water mains. Removing and replacing these unwanted items with rock has taken more time but will drastically improve the foundation of the road.

Work currently being undertaken at the site includes the complete excavation of the Isabella Street - east side of the roundabout, and sub base layer of pavement will be placed in Isabella Street, trenching for underground electrical work for new street lighting, stormwater protection works, and the commencement of the next layer of pavement throughout the roundabout.

The project is expected to be complete in early October 2026, weather depending.
